Chez Mondrian
André Kertész, 1926

This is one of the artist’s iconic images André Kertész made shortly after his arrival in Paris and while on a visit to Dutch painter Piet Mondrian’s home. Kertész later mused, “I went to his studio and instinctively tried to capture in my photographs the spirit of his paintings. He simplified, simplified, simplified the studio with its symmetry dictated composition.”
